Sony working on a low cost laptop based on Via processor!
Asus already has a lot of success with their EEE PC range of low cost laptops. HP has launched their Mini-Top and Dell is also scheduled to launch their mini-Inspirons.
Now, Sony is said to be working on a low cost notebook to be powered by Via processors.
An early prototype was displayed by contract manufacturer Quanta Computer at WiMax Expo.
The company said that this machine would arrive in the market later this year.
Market sources say that the laptop would be powered by 1.6GHz C7-M processor from Via.
The machine displayed at the Expo was powered by Windows Vista Home Basic. It had a 60 GB hard disk and came with 1GB RAM and WiMax support.
