Intel Atom introduced officially
Microprocessor industry giant Intel has finally unveiled their much talked about Atom processor.
The company said that this chip is designed to empower the new range of low cost internet devices.
Intel Asia Pacific Vice president and General Manager Navin Shenoy added that the processor has the capability to bring internet access to millions of users worldwide.
This new processor also enables Intel to compete against AMD and Via in this segment of the market which is growing at a rapid pace.
Intel added that they are also working on a version of Atom processor that can be used in mobile devices such as Apple iPhone.
Shenoy said: “Intel has always been about faster, faster and faster chips. But we want to innovate in a new direction this time, very low power, very small size, and, yes, very low cost.”
