AT&T requires iPhone 3G activated before it leaves the store!
The newly launched Apple iPhone 3G is sort of a bad news for people who dealt in unlocking the device for sale at a higher price.
This is also bad news for people who want to run the iPhone 3G on networks other than AT&T.
The new arrangement between Apple and AT&T would require the customer to activate the phone before leaving the store.
This means that the customer would require to sign up for a 2 year long contract with AT&T if he wants to purchase the iPhone 3G.
So, effectively the user would have to pay the contract cancellation fee to AT&T to avoid paying the fees for the two year long period.
It would be interesting to see how the unlocking industry reacts to this new development.
