Microsoft seeking support to block Yahoo-Google Deal

Microsoft failed to get Yahoo to accept any of their offers. The internet media giant rejected their acquisition offer earlier this year. And later on the two companies failed to settle on a smaller deal.

Yahoo instead announced their deal with rivals Google which would see the search engine giant placing ads on some of the Yahoo Search result pages in US and Canada.

Microsoft is now said to be looking for support to block this deal between Yahoo and Google.

Sources say that the company has been contacting advocacy groups which work to influence policy in Washington.

The software giant is said to be claiming that the deal between Yahoo and Google would “limit choices for advertisers and publishers” and “destroy a competitive alternative.”

Google is a major rival in the search and online advertisement market for Microsoft and they have till now failed to challenge them in these two segments.
