Apple iTunes: more than 5 billion songs sold

Apple has announced that they have now sold more than 5 billion songs through their iTunes web store.

The company achieved this feat in around five years of launching the service which is now the biggest retailer of music in the US market.

Apple iTunes carry more than 8 million tracks today.

Apple added that the customers on this service are renting or buying more than 50,000 movies a day.

This new feat is pretty amazing considering they had touched the 3 billion mark in July last year.

Apple is currently scheduled to launch the iPhone 3G next month.
