Arm Cortex-A9 can be used on servers

Arm’s Cortex-A9 multicore chip is designed for mobile devices but it can be adapted for use on servers as well.

It is expected to appear in mobile devices sometime next year.

The company said that they are working on designing new chips that can be used on servers.

Arm however faces an intense battle as the market is dominated by bigger players like Intel and AMD.

A lot of customers in this segment of the market require x86 server architecture.

Nathan Brookwood, principal analyst at Insight 64 spoke about Arm’s plans: “Arm is trying to say, ‘If Intel wants to invade Arm’s market for low-power, Arm could invade Intel’s market for servers.”

Intel is working hard on becoming a major player in the mobile chips market.
