Facebook: We are not blocked in China
Social networking service Facebook has said in a statement that they are not blocked in China as some reports have been suggesting.
A company representative said: “We are disappointed to learn of reports that users in China are having difficulty getting access to Facebook. We have not made any changes to our site that would create access problems and are looking into the situation.”
Market reports were claiming that users were facing reaching the Facebook service.
The company had launched a Chinese language version of the service just days ago.

so what might be the cause why facebook can't be accessed here? and what can we do? we don't want to resort to have a personal VPN. we want facebook back as soon as possible, i haven't accessed it since more than 2 months ago, right after xinjiang riot (which the websites suggest to be the main reason why facebook was blocked).

if anyone cares, various sources give a couple reasonable explanations for fb blockage within mainland china. the initial popular reasoning held that it was connected with uprisings in Xinjiang – that exiled dissidents were conspiring with locals to incite problems during the big 60 year celebration and 20 years since Tiananmen problems. The second is perhaps more intriguing and focuses on Fb's financial support network. There are some tenuous connections linking fb support with individuals and groups associated with CIA and DARPA. Thus, the Chinese government might see fb as a possible threat to its national security. in any case, it has become blatantly UNpossible to negotiate service to fb from within the mainland borders from March to Oct 09. twitter and youtube services have also suffered this year.
