Pioneer develops a 400GB Blu-Ray compatible disc
Pioneer has announced that they have developed a version of a Blu-ray disc which can store as much as 400GB of data.
The disc stores data on 16 layers.
The company claims that the specification for laser to read this disc remain unchanged compared to that of a typical Blu-ray player.
This means that these discs can technically work on current generation Blu-Ray media players.
They are expected to reveal more on this technology at the upcoming Symposium on Optical Memory and Optical Data Storage 2008.
