YouTube revenues disappointing for Google

Google has already admitted that they are failing to generate much revenue from their hugely popular video sharing service YouTube.

Wall Street Journal has now reported that the company expects the service to generate USD 200 million in revenues this year.

The company seems to be cutting back on the number of videos they are going to integrate ads into.

This is said to be primarily to avoid putting in ads in copyrighted videos. YouTube is facing a major lawsuit from Viacom which claims that Google enables the web user to upload pirated media to their servers causing them financial damages.

Sources say that Google is only permitted to place ads on videos which are approved by their partners. This number is very small and is hampering their ability to generate revenues from YouTube.
