Japan to avoid implementing iPod Tax
Japanese government might not after all implement the much controversial iPod Tax.
This new tax was to be implemented on the sales of digital media players to pay royalties to media companies.
The government seems to have given in to the demands made by the electronics manufacturer.
The Agency for Cultural Affairs said in a statement: “At this point, there is virtually no hope for getting the legislation passed.”
The talks to implement this law have been going on for a few years now.
The idea was that the money from this separate tax would be distributed amongst recording companies, songwriters and artists.
