SnagFilms makes available free documentaries for download

AOL powered SnagFilms has announced that they would now make available freely downloadable documentaries on the web.

Company chairman Ted Leonsis spoke about their plans: “Through SnagFilms, everyone on the Web can be a theater owner and a film distributor if they just donate their pixels and enable these incredible documentaries to be seen.”

They are currently offering around 250 films on their website. Around 200 more are under plans for now.

Users would be able to download them or embed them on their own blogs and websites.

They are using technology provided by Clearspring Technologies to run this new service. The company aims to generate revenues through advertising which would be displayed while the movie is played.
