Amazon Video on Demand service launched
US based online retailing giant Amazon has launched their own Video on Demand service.
The service is currently in beta stage and is available to selected customers.
The company said that they aim to launch the public edition in the next couple of months.
This new service would complement their Amazon Unbox store which sells and rent movies.
With Amazon VoD, Amazon is making available 40,000 movies and television programs.
Bill Carr, Amazon’s vice president for digital media spoke about this new service: ”For the first time, this is drop dead simple. Our goal is to create an immersive experience where people can’t help but get caught up in how exciting it is to simply watch a movie right from Amazon.com with a click of the button.”
Amazon is also collaborating with Sony to make available this service on the Sony Bravia line of high-definition televisions. The service would be accessible through Sony Bravia Internet Video link.
