Microsoft: Few reasons to acquire Yahoo now

Microsoft CFO Christopher Liddell has said in a statement that they now believe that rival company Yahoo is now a declining asset and there is little chance they would be interested in a complete acquisition.

Microsoft has made several attempts to acquire Yahoo or get into a collaboration with them. Yahoo rejected all these deals and is now working with Google on a search advertising deal.

Liddell added: “Time passed and value eroded. I think the chances of us buying Yahoo .. are so small that they are essentially negligible.”

He however said that a potential search related deal is quite possible. This is the market where Microsoft aims to expand their presence in.

Microsoft has just expanded their deal with social networking service Facebook. They would now be powering their search and ads.
