Daimler aims to launch electric Smart Car in 2010
Daimler chief executive Dieter Zetsche has been quotes as saying that they are working on launching an electric version of their Smart Car by 2010.
This version is being developed by Mercedes-Benz and the pricing of the car would depend upon how it is offered to the customer (sale or lease).
He added that the demand for such cars in the market is limited and they have still not decided whether they are going to manufacture the electric motors themselves.
The company is already testing the first batch of the prototype electric Smart Cars in London.
BMW also is working on a similar project with their Mini vehicle.
