Britain to get strict with file sharing internet users

Six of the biggest internet service providers are joining hands with the music and movie industry to tackle internet piracy in Britain.

The ISPs would now send warning letters to the customers who are involved in illegal file sharing on the web.

Analysts claim that as many as 6 million Britons are part of this problem as they share copyrighted material online.

The ISPs got together on this initiative after the British government warned that they would have to impose legislation if they fail to take any action on this problem.

Virgin Media, BSkyB, Carphone Warehouse, BT, Orange and Tiscali are the UK based ISPs involved in this project.
