India working on a USD 10 laptop?
This is the kind of news which makes us chuckle. We know it’s technically impossible to achieve at this moment.
Especially considering India is not even known for computer manufacturing companies.
D. Purandeswari, Minister of State for Higher Education said in a statement that they are working on a project to develop a USD 10 laptop for higher education applications.
This project is being worked upon by Indian Institute of Science in Bangalore and the Indian Institute of Technology in Chennai.
They believe that this laptop product would enhance the standard of education in India. No information was released on what this laptop would feature and whether the price tag would include a heavy government subsidy.
