Google YouTube sued by Italian media company Mediaset
Italian media company Mediaset has announced that they have now filed a copyright violation lawsuit against the video sharing service YouTube which is owned by search engine company Google.
The lawsuit is similar to many others which have been filed against YouTube and Google.
They are claiming that the service distributed and exploited its commercial property.
Mediaset is claiming in the lawsuit that they found more than 4500 video clips hosted on YouTube featuring their material. This totally accounts for around 325 hours of material.
The lawsuit further claims that these videos resulted in loss of nearly 315,700 viewer days for the television networks leading to massive loss in advertising revenues.
They are seeking damages worth $779 million from Google.
