One Laptop per Child arrives in India
The One Laptop per Child is all set to arrive in India through a partnership with Reliance ADA Group.
The project is aimed to provide cheap computing devices to students going to school to help them in their education.
Incidentally, the Indian government had rejected the project’s proposal so they have now partnered with a corporate body.
Project head Nicholas Negroponte spoke about their Indian plans: “India is the largest market for us, and I had to be here.”
The Indian government has been rejecting the proposal saying that the kids in India need more basic stuff first comparing to a low cost laptop.
