And the SOLE reason you (the consumer) are still paying $0.99 instead of $1.29 or $1.49 or $1.99 for songs is because Apple has the best music store and the best music player and the best integration between the two, so people still buy from Apple. If Apple was also allowed to selling music from the major labels without DRM, Amazon and all the other online music stores would be crushed. Absolutely and completely. Yeah, but the ONLY reason for Amazon doing well is not because they are outmarketing Apple, but because the major music labels have Apple’s arm tied behind it’s back with DRM.
