AMD still not developing a specific processor for Netbooks
Advanced Micro Devices has revealed that they have no immediate plans to develop a specific processor for the emerging NetBook market.
The company said that they are still not sure whether these devices would take away market share from regular laptops and notebooks.
AMD said: “We haven’t announced anything for this type of cheap mini-notebook and we’re still taking this wait-and-see attitude. The fact that there are a number of models coming out might give the indication that [the market is] growing and everybody wants to do this, but what’s interesting is you pull back the covers and talk to people in the industry and they’re kind of scared.”
These mini notebooks are becoming very popular in the market as a lot of customers are buying them as their second notebook.
AMD believes that these Netbooks are offering poor performance for a little less money.
