Intel to reveal technology that turns on the PC on receiving telephone calls

Microprocessor industry giant Intel is all set to launch a new technology which would turn on the PC when it receives a call over the internet.

This technology could further boost the usage of the computer as a replacement for a telephone connection.

Currently, the PC has to remain on to perform similar tasks which is an energy wasting alternative.

Trevor Healy, chief executive of Jajah spoke about this technology: “This certainly helps the PC become a much better center of communications in the home.”

Jajah would become the first of the telephony services to make use of this technology to provide their services.

What? There already is a well-defined standard way for waking up a computer from sleep when it receives a packet via Ethernet. Or is this just some new Intel-only non-standard thing?
