GM has plans beyond Chevrolet Volt

GM has said that they are working on several projects similar to Volt which is their most important next generation product.

GM plans to launch the Volt model in the market in the coming 2 years.

A company representative said that they are working on developing new vehicles which would be launched with the range-extended lithium-ion battery propulsion system.

Frank Weber admitted: “The significance of the project has increased”.

GM said that they expect to delivery significant technology upgrades to the Volt model on a yearly basis.

David Cole, chairman of the Center for Automotive Research said: “There’s a steady stream of little signs of things. There’s some derivatives of the Volt coming. What that indicates is that their confidence is increasing that they can do this.”
