Apple iPod nano cause fires in Japan

Japan’s trade ministry has reported that they have received three cases of fires which were caused by Apple iPod nano digital media players.

This could be possible due to defect in the batteries powering these devices.

The ministry added that no one was injured in these incidents. Apple has also been said to have reported two similar cases.

The affected iPod Nano were sold in the Japanese market between September 2005 and September 2006.

A trade ministry official added: “We are not in the position to speculate on the outcome of the investigation. But after several incidents like these, it would be appropriate for Apple to take some measures to raise the public’s awareness.”
