Apple iPhone ad banned in UK
UK has banned one particular advertising about the popular Apple iPhone.
The advertisement claimed that the “all parts of the Internet are on the iPhone”.
However, it is well known that Apple has not added support for Adobe Flash and Sun Microsystems Java technologies.
Both of these technologies are widely used across the web. Of course, Apple iPhone Safari also lack support for Microsoft Silverlight technology which is however still to catch on.
Apple claimed in its defense that they meant to the availability of the sites and not the components of the websites.
The company added that they cannot possibly support all the third party browser plug-ins on the mobile Safari edition.
The regulatory body said in its statement: “We concluded that the ad gave a misleading impression of the Internet capabilities of the iPhone. The ad must not be broadcast again in its current form.”
