Samsung: Blu-Ray won’t last more than 5 years
Andy Griffiths, director of consumer electronics at Samsung UK has said in a statement that he does not believe that the Blu-Ray format would survive for very long.
He said: “I think it [Blu-ray Format] has 5 years left, I certainly wouldn’t give it 10.”
He added that the current year has opened up lots of options in the storage arena. He added: “It’s going to be huge. We are heavily back-ordered at the moment.”
Cloud Computing is one aspect which could probably become huge in the future. Wider availability of faster internet would lure users to use online storage more frequently and hardware based storage could one day become a thing of the past.
