microsoft chrome windows live hotmail

We wish Microsoft developers were fast enough to accept that Google Chrome is at least as good a browser as Apple Safari especially considering they are both based on WebKit.

A new update to Windows Live Hotmail, Google CHrome will not allow me to type in the response part. Where the actual email goes.

Re not being able to send replies from Chrome. I write to both Google and MSN about this problem every few weeks. Most recently I suggested the MSN and Google folks get together, have a few beers, chill out and make this work. Maybe beer isn’t strong enough.

As of a couple of days ago, I can’t open emails, browse folders, send messages and essentially do anything that I need to do in Hotmail, using Chrome.

This issue still isn’t resolved, and it’s been around for months. What gives? I tried the new “developer” version of chrome and still no luck. I’m trying to get rid of hotmail (this isn’t the only issue I’ve had with it) but I’ve been using it for years. Oh well. We definitely need a fix for this, it’s getting silly.

I can see my hotmail acct but can not read any of the messages. I was able to open mail for a while but as of Jan 12 I could no more.
I hope its not a purposeful block. Tit for tat I would go with Google.

The above ‘fix’ worked…well after I realized that I needed a space after the ‘exe’…lol
But I am sick of temporary fixes and just wish MSM and Google would really fix it.

Yep seems to work – even patches like this are better than having to use IE …

it is not really a patch.

it just tells hotmail that the browser is not chrome but safari (i think). so it sends the browser the right code which works.

chrome uses webkit which is used by safari. so hotmail should work fine with chrome without any hassles.

it is microsoft which is not recognizing chrome as a web browser.

they used to do this with opera users. and now they are doing it with chrome users.

“patch” does not work. My guess is that MSN figured it out and kind of blocked it. Reason for my guessing this is that they don’t want to permit Chrome users to use Hotmail. Anyway… my point is that this little thread, patch… or whatever you call it is not working for me.

I’ve used the fix successfully on two different machines but noticed last week Hotmail was sometimes unresponsive (nothing worked) within Chrome. I restarted Chrome a couple of times – no luck. I waited a half hour and it worked fine.

    Go figure.

Argh! this makes me really angry. this last year i have found microsoft to be completely F***ed.
firstly, (yes, i know, stupid!) i got vista. what a ball-ache.
secondly, trying to get rid of IE on my computer. again, a ball-ache. and its still bloody sitting there, hiding in a folder and taking up valuable space.
and now. hotmail. jebus-christ. i just want to reply to an email! of course microsoft is too retarded to get up with the play. fingers crossed this patch works.
PS i love Chrome. what a beautiful creation!

For nearly a couple months now I’ve been using Hotmail in Chrome with no problems – then earlier this week Hotmail stopped updating the mailbox (deletes, read mail, etc.) real time. So when I refresh the window to check for new messages, messages I’ve read and deleted reappear as unread and undeleted. Arrgh.

Anyone else having this problem? I just installed the latest version of Chrome Beta – no change in the problem.

if chrome is set as the default browser, live messenger should open the link in chrome…

i tested it in the latest version of the live messenger and it works fine.

Yes, I have the exact same issue. Whenever I want to check my email through Messenger, IE6 pops up…
