Microsoft starts integrating Powerset technology in Live Search

Software giant Microsoft has stated that they have now started integrating technologies acquired through Powerset in their Live Search engine.

The company said that it would still take them sometime to fully benefit from the acquisition of Powerset natural-language search engine.

They have for now added a couple of new features powered by Powerset technologies. This includes the integration of Freebase, Wikipedia and Factz.

Powerset’s Mark Johnson spoke about the new developments: “Since Wikipedia articles show up in a large percentage of Live Search queries, it’s important that the captions are top notch. These changes are transparent to the end user, but we’ll be able to analyze the Powerset captions versus the Live Search captions to see which perform better.”

Powerset is also now using Live Search technology to enhance their search results.
