Amazon working on a content delivery service to compete with Akamai and Limelight
Amazon is one of the leading providers of cloud computing solutions and the company is now working on a content delivery service similar to Akamai and Limelight.
This new service would work with their Amazon Simple Storage System service.
The aim is to deliver content with low latency, high speed data transmission.
Amazon said that the service is currently being tested by a small group of Amazon Web Services customers.
They aim to make it available to all AWS customers before the end of 2008.
This service too would be offered without any contract at pay-per-use concept.
Amazon would initially provide the service for HTTP connections. In future, they would support security, authentication, and streaming.
