Electronic Frontier Foundation files a lawsuit against President Bush
Electronic Frontier Foundation has now filed a lawsuit against President George W. Bush and other senior members of his administration.
This lawsuit is related to the surveillance of emails and telephone calls which was conducted without any permission from the courts.
They claim in this lawsuit that the Bush administration conducted “illegal surveillance of millions of ordinary Americans.”
The same group had earlier filed a lawsuit against AT&T in 2006 related to similar programs.
EFF senior staff attorney Kevin Bankston spoke about this latest lawsuit: “Our goal in this new case against the government, as in our case against AT&T, is to dismantle this dragnet surveillance program as soon as possible. For years, the NSA has been engaged in a massive and massively illegal fishing expedition through AT&T’s domestic networks and databases of customer records.”
