Google G1 Android powered mobile phone launched

Google has finally launched the first of the mobile phones to be powered by their Android mobile platform.

This new product is named G1. It would be available through T-Mobile network in UK market from November this year.

It is also going to be available in the US market through T-Mobile USA. The phone would cost $179 in the US market.

The phone is designed to be optimized for internet services and comes preloaded with several Google technologies.

It features one click access to services like Gmail, Google Talk, Google maps, YouTube and of course the Google search.

The phone also features a 3 megapixel camera which makes it slightly better than the Apple iPhone 3G.

It also features a touch screen in addition to a slide-out QWERTY keyboard. Support for Wi-Fi and 3G is available. Andy Rubin, Google’s senior director of mobile platforms spoke about the G1: “Because the Android platform is open, we think Android is future-proof.”
