Zhai Zhigang becomes the first Chinese to Spacewalk
China has now become the third country to accomplish the feat of performing a spacewalk.
Chinese Taikonaut Zhai Zhigang took the honors by floating outside the Shenzhou 7 spacecraft.
Only USA and Russia have done so before.
The spacewalk lasted for hardly 15 minutes but it was a historic achievement for the world’s most populous nation.
Zhai Zhigang spoke after the spacewalk: “In the vast space, I felt proud of our motherland.”
This is also the third time China launched a human into the space. The country aims to lead the development of a space station by 2020.
