AMD Shanghai processor range coming soon
Microprocessor Company AMD has announced that they are on track to launch their Shanghai range of processors before the end of the year.
The company said that the delays on their Barcelona range of chips are not going to happen this time around.
AMD had launched the Barcelona range of processors in September last year. But they had to halt the sale after a bug was found in the processor’s cache memory.
That problem delayed the mass sale of chips even further and hurt the company’s reputation.
Intel gained a lot from those delays and has a stronghold on the market now.
Pat Patla, general manager of AMD’s server and workstation group said in a statement: “We realized with Shanghai that we’d have to turn out a product early that had the stability and the health to make (vendors) get engaged.”
