Best Buy gets approval to buy Napster

US based retailing giant Best Buy has said that they have now received antitrust approval to acquire digital media store Napster.

This has been confirmed by the US Federal Trade Commission.

Best Buy is a major seller of CDs but has a limited presence in the growing digital media market.

They aim to fill this vacuum through this acquisition. Napster might not be a market leader but it’s a pretty well known brand.

The digital media market is dominated by Apple iTunes.

Best Buy is acquiring Napster for $121. The deal was announced last month.
