Samsung aiming for 15% of Indian mobile phone market

Samsung Electronics has said that they are aiming to take a 15% market share in the Indian mobile phone segment.

Nokia dominates the Indian market with their mobile phones.

Samsung aims to enhance their market share to this new target within the next year.

The company is marketing their products heavily ever since they hired Aamir Khan as their brand ambassador.

Samsung has also been launching some high profile mobile phones in India including the Samsung Innov8.

Samsung Mobile country head Sunil Dutt said in a statement on their plans: “India has the second largest market for mobile subscribers after China and from the next billion mobile phone consumers globally, India is expected to contribute 250 million. The market size for GSM and CDMA mobile phones in India is 100-110 million in 2008 and will grow to 150 million by 2010, with 50% coming from the replacement market”.
