YouTube to become a showcase for retail sales for Google!

Google has revealed that they would now provide links on YouTube hosted videos to sites which sell the related media content.

For example, music video pages would feature links to buy the song present in the video. A gaming trailer might link to a page where the user can purchase that gaming title.

YouTube would be linking to several stores including Amazon and Apple iTunes for this new service.

The company would probably receive a share of the sale if the transaction is complete. This is one of the many ways Google aims to monetize the service they acquired for $1.76 billion two years ago.

Shishir Mehrotra, YouTube’s director of product management spoke about the new developments: “This is just the first step in this adventure.”

This new service is likely to work only in US for now. The company aims to expand it to their international markets in the coming months.
