Wal-Mart to keep their DRM servers online

US based retailing giant Wal-Mart recently became the latest operator of digital media store to go DRM free.

This was bad news for the customers of the service who had previously both DRM enabled media.

Wal-Mart warned the users that they would shut down the DRM servers which would make it impossible for customers to get back their songs in case they formatted their machines or bought a new machine.

The company was criticized and they seems to have taken note of the problem.

Wal-Mart has now said that they are going to keep the servers on for a longer duration than originally planned.

They are however not stating the date when they would shut them down. It just gives the music owners a bit more time to transfer them to audio CDs and rip them again. Just to have access to it! For the music they have purchased…
