YouTube sends a classic response to John McCain presidential campaign over DMCA
John McCain’s presidential campaign has been using YouTube to post their videos in the ongoing presidential campaign.
However, some of these videos were found to contain possible copyrighted material and YouTube took them down on requests made by the content creators.
John McCain’s presidential campaign then sent a letter to YouTube asking them to examine fair-use issues more carefully before they remove the videos in response to the DMCA take down notices.
YouTube sent back a classic reply to this request. Basically, John McCain was one of the senator who voted to approve the DMCA copyright law.
YouTube said that if they took more time to review each video for potential copyright infringement, they can get sued for it.
