IBM launches Linux mainframe System z10 Business Class
IBM has announced the launch of a new mainframe system named System z10 Business Class.
The company said that it is a baby mainframe which costs much cheaper than their regular products.
It is targeted at mid sized companies which cannot afford getting a regular mainframe system.
This system is optimized to run Linux operating system. The company has worked with Red Hat and Novell to make sure that Linux runs without a hitch on this system.
A company representative spoke about this new model: “We’re continuing to make the mainframe more mainstream, more interesting to new customers, and more interesting to medium-sized businesses.”
