Rackspace Hosting acquires Slicehost and Jungle Disk
Rackspace Hosting is working hard on becoming a major player in the cloud computing market.
They have just acquired Slicehost which provides solutions to companies to host applications on virtual servers.
Rackspace has also acquired Jungle Disk which developers software that works in collaboration with Amazon S3.
Analysts believe that these acquisitions would help Rackspace enhance their product offerings to become a major player in the cloud computing market.
They are also entering into partnerships with companies like Sonian and Limelight Networks as part of this initiative.
The deal with Limelight Networks would allow them to offer content delivery network services.
Rackspace CTO John Engates said in a statement on their plans: “We want to make the cloud easy to use and combine that with what Rackspace has been doing for years, which is supporting customers and hosting their mission-critical infrastructures. We want to combine the cloud with that and make the best of both worlds available to our customers.”
