Sony Ericsson is said to be working on a new mobile device that could become a potent rival to the Apple iPhone.

But it is not targeted at the audience which buys the famed device.

Sony is instead focusing on a more special category of customers.

This phone is codenamed Hikaru and it would feature a 8MP camera. It would come loaded with 8GB of storage and a touchscreen.

The company is also said to be working on another model codenamed Twiggy. It would be part of their Walkman branded mobile phones.

Meanwhile, potential customers waiting to get their hands on Sony XPERIA X1 which is their first Windows Mobile handset.
