Sony Laptop Battery Recall: Once again
Sony laptop batteries are being recalled once again.
Dell, HP and Toshiba are the laptop manufacturers who are announcing this recall.
This new recall is for around 100,000 batteries. This is much smaller than the earlier recall which saw the companies replacing millions of laptop batteries.
The three companies are advising that customers should stop using the affected products immediately.
These batteries being recalled were manufactured between October 2004 and June 2005.
Sony has stated that they have received complaints about 40 incidents related to overheating.
HP laptop models affected by this recall:
HP Pavilion dv1000, dv8000 and zd8000
HP Compaq Presario v2000 and v2400
HP Compaq nc6110, nc6120, nc6140, nc6220, nc6230,nx4800, nx4820, nx6110, nx6120 and nx9600
Toshiba:
Toshiba Satellite A70/A75, P30/P5, M30X/M35X and M50/M55
Toshiba Tecra A3, A5 and S2
Dell:
Dell Latitude 110L
Dell Inspiron 1100, 1150, 5100, 5150 and 5160

It will be of interest to others the way a customer of HP is treated when a burn is reported to them due to the Laptop. My daughter was actually intimidated by a HP employee when she reported her third degree burn from the Laptop which is currently being recalled (the battery). she had to have skin grafting and went through a horrendous surgery, and many medical bills remain unpaid. She could not work in a hospital setting, so she lost her job, she went into a deep depressions, and has not totally pulled out of it yet. She has Lupus, which complicates the injury even more.
