Audi R8 now in India for Rs 1.17 crore

Audi has finally launched their sports car Audi R8 for a price tag of Rs 1.17 crore.

Audi India Managing Director Benoit Tiers spoke at the launch event: “Audi R8 is not only a strong statement about the brand, but also about Audi’s direction for the future to be the most successful premium brand by 2015. It embodies the philosophy of ‘Vorsprung durch Technik’.”

Audi R8 comes loaded with a 4,163 cc engine which provides a power of 420 hp at 7,800 rpm.

Audi claims that the car can be used for daily driving usage. It can reach a top speed of an astonishing 301 kmph in 4.6 seconds.

Audi A4, Audi A6, Audi A8, Audi Q7 and Audi TT are the other models being offered by the company here in India.

The German automaker said: “We plan to sell ten Audi R8s in this fiscal. We have already received orders for 15 cars and by the end of 2009 we hope to sell around 20 cars.”
