Google G1 manufacturing costs: USD 144

Google’s first mobile phone G1 is based on the open source mobile platform Google Android.

The phone is on sale in the US market now and is available through T-Mobile.

HTC is manufacturing this phone for Google and it is likely to go on sale in Europe and Asian markets soon.

Market research firm iSuppli has now revealed the approximate manufacturing costs of this phone.

They claim that the phone costs USD 144 to the company. This cost however does not include the costs of software, research and development and other expenses.

iSuppli stated in its report: “The G1’s… major advantage is its integration with Google Internet services and its capability to accommodate the flood of free applications that are becoming available.”
