DeepDyve offers deep web searching capabilities
DeepDyve is the latest search engine in town.
It is the new name of the startup Infovell which is aiming to provide deep web searching capabilities to web users.
The company had earlier announced their plans in September and they are now offering search in several domains including computing, clean tech, and energy.
They were already providing searching on other topics including biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, patents, and Wikipedia.
The company said that they index the web which is not index by the other popular search engines.
DeepDyve says that they have till now indexed 500 million pages so far. They are aiming to double their database before the end of the year.
The free edition of the service requires registration. They also have a paid option with more features.

I got turned off by their signup-before-you-search thing. If they want users to try them they should get away with signing up. I don’t quite get it. Others like Find.com and even Cuil.com didn’t ask for my email address so I don’t see the reason why they should.
