Apple iPhone in India: Sales are disappointing
Apple iPhone was launched in the Indian market some months ago.
The launch was highly awaited considering India is one of the fastest growing markets in the world.
However, a couple of months after the iPhone 3g went on sale, the results are disappointing.
Sources say that Airtel and Vodafone have just sold around 11,000 units of iPhone in the Indian market.
Airtel and Vodafone are the two mobile companies which are officially selling the iPhone in India.
One of the prime reasons behind lack of sales is the high price of the device.
Apple iPhone is being offered at prices above Rs. 30,000. No subsidies are being given even though the devices are locked to the carriers.
It is pretty obvious that Apple had anticipated low sales as they had supposedly allocated few units for India.
