Google Custom Search does on-demand indexing

This is perhaps one of the most useful addition by Google in their Custom Search service.

Users can now get Google to do on-demand indexing on their websites if they use the Google CSE service.

All they need is to make a Google compatible sitemap on their website and submit it on CSE to get it to index.

Google is said to index these pages to add them into their supplement database which is also used by their regular search engine.

Google spoke about this new updated service: “Customers today demand speed. Waiting around is so, well, yesterday — as so many of the things we used to have to wait for are now at our fingertips online. For a business running their own Web site, this means that visitors who turn to search expect to have access to the newest products, pages and announcements a site has to offer.”
