Toyota developing CNG powered vehicles
CNG powered vehicles are already massive popular in the Indian market.
Toyota is now working on a Camry hybrid concept that would use CNG as its fuel.
This model would be showcased at the Los Angeles Auto Show.
Toyota spokesperson John Hanson said in a statement: “We are using this as an opportunity to state that we are getting back into CNG R&D and that we are adding CNG to our portfolio of alternative fuels. We see CNG as an alternative fuel for the future, especially considering what we see as a pretty definite peak oil situation around 2020.”
CNG however has some shortcomings. It gives a slightly less fuel efficiency. Power of the engine is also somewhat reduced.
However, it is available in huge quantity around the world and can be easily made available.
