Verizon Wireless employee who accessed Obama’s mobile phone account fired
US based telecom service provider Verizon Wireless has confirmed that they have fired the employee who had breached company’s internal security and accessed the mobile account of President Elect Barack Obama.
The company however said that the voice-mail messages and e-mails were not accessed by the culprit.
A representative of Barack Obama stated: “We were notified yesterday that employees had accessed the records of an old cell phone no longer in use. No voice or e-mails were listened to or read.”
This mobile account was connected to a regular mobile phone which did not have any advance features like email or data services.
Verizon Wireless President and Chief Executive Lowell McAdam apologized to Obama in a public statement.
