Virgin America set to test launch in-flight Wi-Fi service
Virgin America is preparing to launch their in-flight wireless internet service.
The service would remain in beta for a week before the commercial launch on December 1.
They are aiming to have this facility on all its planes by the middle of next year.
The technology and solutions are being provided by Aircell.
The testing period would give access to this service to all the interested passengers on the flight.
After the testing, customers would be required to pay US$9.95 for a flight of three hours or less and $12.95 for longer flights.
The only restriction is making VoIP calls. The company has also set up mechanism to prevent a single user eating all the bandwidth available.
