Clearwire in a deal with Sprint for Wimax network
Sprint Nextel and Clearwire are forming a new collaborative entity that would establish a nationwide WiMAX network.
The two companies are supported in this initiative from major IT giants including Intel, Google and three cable operators.
The deal was originally announced in May this year.
This newly formed company has received an investment of US$3.2 billion from Intel, Google, Comcast, Time Warner Cable and Bright House Networks.
Clearwire has announced that this new service would be launched with the brand name Clear.
It would offer speeds ranging between 2Mbps and 4Mbps.
